On Thursday 19th February, we had the pleasure of welcoming over 600 customers and industry representatives into AIB Bankcentre for an event detailing how AIB is supporting business customers for growth.
The first speaker of the evening, Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan TD, spoke about the launch of the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland’s (SBCI) product programme to provide €400m of low cost funding to Irish SMEs. The Minister commended AIB’s commitment to the SBCI and in particular adding 1% to the SBCI’s discount of the funds.
AIB Director of Retail & Business Banking, Bernard Byrne, acknowledged the tough decisions SMEs make to protect and grow their businesses, and how this formed the basis of the bank’s Backing Brave programme. Emphasising AIB’s support for Irish business, he said “Over the past couple of years, we have invested significant time in deepening our understanding of various SME sectors, including the risks and challenges they face. Thanks to many of you present here tonight, who have worked with us during this period."
The final speaker of the evening, renowned journalist and broadcaster Jon Snow, gave his view on current international aspects of politics, including British and European perspective.
AIB Head of Business Banking, Ken Burke closed the event by reiterating AIB’s commitment to the Irish economy.
